Judge Susan Johnson decided to grant Anne Swanson’s request for possession of her baby’s placenta!
We are both thrilled at this outcome. The judge only had to rule today whether the injunction was granted, which would stop the hospital from destroying the placenta. She went one step further and issued that Anne should be given back her placenta, in a timely manner.
I am going to put my notes together a bit more before posting the full details, but I wanted to get this out right away.
Congratulations, Anne!

Congrats! That is so awesome. I’m so happy for all involved. Hopefully the Florida hospitals will understand the importance of this someday. Thankfully I did get to keep my placenta, but only because I had an understanding doctor and nurse, and my baby was born after midnight when there were fewer “higher ups” on staff to contest it!
Congrats again and I can’t wait to hear the full story.

How would I be able to keep my babies placenta? I read something that says you can force them to let you keep it for religious reasons. What would those reasons be? I am due for a bay on August 17th and I will be going to the same hospitl that told me it was bihazard waste last time when I aksed to keep it. Please help.

What fantastic news! We are so proud of what you have done and continue to do for the natural birthing community Anne! You are a source of inspiration for all families and your daughters are two very lucky girls to have such a strong role model of a mama!
